Couch potato farm is an interactive virtual life video installation, which models a virtual ecosystem that watches television and surveillance video. The work is designed to tease the users of the system into thinking about our continual passive exposure to television, and our passive participation in ubiquitous video surveillance. The installation is an exploration of a heterogeneous virtual ecosystem, with two kinds of virtual lifeform - a cellular automaton and mobile creatures that evolve characteristics through a genetic algorithm.

Couch Potato Farm was awarded a special mention in the Vida 8.0 international awards for art and artificial life.
