Circumambulation

This piece is a sound and video work of the circumambulation of three stupas (Buddhist monuments). The first stupa, in Sanchi, India, is shown in the video, interleaved with video of circumambulation of a virtual stupa. Finally the sound track is from Buddhist monks chanting during a circumambulation of a third stupa in Bodhgaya, India, during the Kalachakra ceremony, a pilgrimage that attracted over a hundreds thousand in 2003.

This piece was first shown in the 3jay group show at the Said Business School, Oxford 2003.
